Renovation of the Nephrology Department
Services ProvidedConcept and Preliminary Design / Final Plans / Services During Construction
The renovation to the nephrology department was planned in connection to the previous renovation of the hemodialysis unit on the ground floor of Pavilion D at the Jewish General Hospital. It contains diverse types of treatment rooms and a laboratory as well as offices for doctors, nurses and support staff, a training space and a conference room.
A luminous line on the ceiling orients patients towards the central treatment spaces while colourful floor insertions direct movement towards corresponding and varied coloured doors and finishes, coordinated to reflect their intended occupancies. The diverse materials were selected to create a luminous and soothing environment despite the absence of natural light. The evanescence of the decorative film applied to the interior glazing contributes to a sense of fluidity through the spaces and emphasizes the rhythm of the ceiling plan. However, the double glazing and the opacity of the film at certain levels ensures privacy and confidentiality in the consultation rooms.
