Following the addition of a new security checkpoint to manage an increasing number of travellers, the corridor leading to the domestic departure area had to be enlarged. The corridor also contains a fire compartment that connects the departure area to the main airport terminal.

This project was particular in the sense that it had to account for the complex details of the existing building in the design of the fire compartment and the integration of all of the engineering systems. During construction, the phasing of the project had to be very specific in order not to interfere with airport operations.
